Well, today is my holiday. I share the same birthday as Martin Luther King Jr., so growing up it became one of my favorites. Although my motives were selfish, mainly being excited to have my birthday off and then the Monday nearest my birthday, it did effect me. I know a silly way to learn about some one who changed our world but whatever works.
MLK was an awesome leader who lived out his faith. His actions make me want to be a better person. He exemplified Godly character by not excepting evil even though it was lawful and fighting evil with love. Read some of these quotes from him and think what it would be like to have a leader like him in your organization or church.
-The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
-If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.
-Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.
-We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.
-To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.
-He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.
- Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.
- Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
